{"response":{"award":[{"abstractText":"This project will establish a national network of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and partner organizations focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum science. Clark Atlanta University will serve as the lead institution, and the project will operate through five regional nodes led by Clark Atlanta University, Central State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and Texas Southern University. Collectively, these nodes will serve nineteen states and the District of Columbia. The Georgia Institute of Technology will serve as a technical and convening partner, supporting the coordination of shared resources, partner engagement strategies, and scalable operating practices across the network. The project aims to strengthen education, workforce preparation, and research collaborations through cross-sector partnerships with industry, government, small businesses, and community organizations. Project activities will include identifying institutional strengths and needs, supporting regional meetings and workshops, developing shared training resources, and creating practical pathways for students, faculty, and regional partners to engage in fast-growing technology fields. The project will prepare participants for careers in advanced technology areas, promote collaborations between colleges and industry, and contribute to regional economic growth in areas such as advanced manufacturing, aerospace, AI, advanced materials, microelectronics, marine science, and quantum information science.  \r\n\r\n\r\nThe project will implement a coordinated, phased approach to establish and activate a distributed innovation network focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum science. The project will integrate governance development, asset mapping, institutional capability profiling, regional convenings, applied pilot planning, faculty development, workforce training, industry engagement, and iterative evaluation. This structure will support coordinated planning across regions while allowing each regional node to align activities with local institutional strengths, industrial priorities, and emerging technology trends. Regional convenings and workshops will be used to translate institutional capabilities and partner needs into applied pilot activities, workforce development programs that address priorities, shared curriculum resources, and regional roadmaps. The project will also develop and share course materials, laboratory modules, credential materials, industry-informed technical micro-credentials and certificates, and planning resources through a centralized repository. The project is expected to strengthen research competitiveness, expand technical training capacity, support industry-informed workforce pathways, and position participating institutions for future large-scale research and innovation activities. This project is co-funded by the Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (TIP) and the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Program (HBCU-UP), which provides awards to strengthen STEM undergraduate education and research at HBCUs.\r\n\r\nThis award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.","activeAwd":"true","agency":"NSF","awardAgencyCode":"4900","awardee":"TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY","awardeeAddress":"3100 CLEBURNE ST","awardeeCity":"HOUSTON","awardeeCountryCode":"US","awardeeDistrict":"18","awardeeDistrictCode":"TX18","awardeeName":"Texas Southern University","awardeePhone":"7133137457","awardeeStateCode":"TX","awardeeZipCode":"770044501","cfdaNumber":"47.084","coPDPI":["Wei W Li Liw@tsu.edu","Mark C Harvey harveymc@tsu.edu","Yan XU yan.xu@tsu.edu"],"date":"09/17/2026","dirAbbr":"TIP","divAbbr":"ITE","estimatedTotalAmt":"764999","expDate":"09/30/2028","fundAgencyCode":"4900","fundProgramName":"ART-Accelerating Rsrch Trnsltn","fundsObligated":["FY 2026 = $380,044.00"],"fundsObligatedAmt":"380044","histAwd":"false","id":"2619041","initAmendmentDate":"09/17/2026","latestAmendmentDate":"09/17/2026","managingPec":"252Y00","orgCodeDir":"15000000","orgCodeDiv":"15020000","orgLongName":"Directorate for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships","orgLongName2":"Innovation and Technology Ecosystems","orgUrl":"https://beta.nsf.gov/tip/ite","parentUeiNumber":"","pdPIName":"Daniel Vrinceanu","perfAddress":"3100 CLEBURNE ST","perfCity":"HOUSTON","perfCountryCode":"US","perfDistrict":"18","perfDistrictCode":"TX18","perfLocation":"Texas Southern University","perfStateCode":"TX","perfZipCode":"770044501","pi":["Daniel Vrinceanu vrinceanud@tsu.edu"],"piEmail":"vrinceanud@tsu.edu","piFirstName":"Daniel","piId":"269826483","piLastName":"Vrinceanu","poEmail":"tyrwilli@nsf.gov","poName":"Tyrslai Williams","poPhone":"7032928445","primaryProgram":["01002627DB NSF RESEARCH & RELATED ACTIVIT","01002728DB NSF RESEARCH & RELATED ACTIVIT"],"progEleCode":"252Y00","program":"Microelectronics and Semiconductors, Quantum Education & Workforce Developmnt, Advanced Manufacturing","progRefCode":"106Z, 163Z, 8037","publicAccessMandate":"1","startDate":"10/01/2026","title":"Collaborative Research: The HBCU AI - Quantum Innovation Network (HAQIN)","transType":"Cooperative Agreement","ueiNumber":"HYYJJ5ZP7CR9"}],"metadata":{"offset":0,"rpp":25,"totalCount":1}}}
